Por motivos de força maior, cancelamos a festa inicialmente prevista para este sábado no GIG. Em compensação, teremos o prazer de tocar sábado, dia 26 de dezembro, na pista 2 da Casa da Matriz, junto com a PARADISO, para fechar o ano com chave de ouro!

E é lógico que já estamos pensando em diversas idéias para a produção, aguardem!

Surpreendente este novo single do These New Puritans, mostrando que a banda retornará cheia de ambições em seu segundo álbum, "Hidden", a ser lançado oficialmente em 18 de janeiro de 2010 no Reino Unido. Mais de sete minutos de duração, diversas mudanças de andamento e um clima de trilha sonora cinematográfica:

Stardeath and the White Dwarfs

Sabe como é, ser parente de famoso e querer seguir a mesma carreira que ele é complicado. Não sei se Sean Lennon já sentiu, ou ainda sente, o peso de seu nome, por exemplo (provavelmente sim, convenhamos). Há sempre uma desconfiança/implicância não apenas por parte da mídia, mas também do público. Felizmente, isso não parece ser muito problemático para Dennis Coyne, sobrinho do líder figuraça dos Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne (ele mesmo!).

Dennis lidera a banda novata Stardeath and the White Dwarfs, e não faz a menor questão de esconder a influência musical de seu tio. Seria bobagem, já que há muito tempo ele se vê envolto no universo de Wayne, inclusive trabalhando nos bastidores de shows dos Lips. E o que predomina em seu disco de estréia, "The Birth", é o mesmo rock psicodélico/progressivo que popularizou a banda dona da canção rock oficial de Oklahoma. Estão lá, devidamente atualizadas, referências a Pink Floyd, Yes e King Crimson, além de doses de psicodelia e competentes passagens instrumentais. Com exceção de "New Heat", não há canções com potencial de single, trata-se de um trabalho que requer audições mais atenciosas, menos urgentes.

Claro, "The Birth" tem traços de "banda em formação", sem dúvida. As composições em geral não são muito impactantes, funcionam melhor dentro do conjunto. Mas é um belo cartão de visitas, de um grupo com futuro aparentemente promissor. Ultimamente eles têm feito shows de abertura para os Flaming Lips, inclusive farão junto com eles um show/evento de Ano Novo em Oklahoma, com direito à execução na íntegra de "Dark Side of the Moon", do Pink Floyd! Olha só o cartaz!
